Trolls… Let’s be honest here… NOBODY LIKES THEM!!!!!!! And no I am not talking about these trolls… But I am actually talking about internet trolls who look more like… Internet trolls are the people who like to hide behind screens and write mean and awful things to people who they may or may not even know! Trolls bring all this negativity into peoples lives that are just unnecessary. They also create so many problems for the people around them, such as pointless arguments, depression, negativity, and so much more! One thing that I have picked up from “dealing” with trolls is that you should “never feed them” meaning that the…

Most teenagers on social media are posting pictures of things they think their followers will like and comment on. They are constantly looking for their followers’ approval and how followers show that approval is through likes, comments, retweets, subscribes, etc. and this seems to be the social currency that our generation is becoming. We are all stuck in the same mindset that we need all this “approval” because we think that without it, our lives would be “ruined”. We need to start changing the way we think. We cannot live our lives constantly searching for others approval. The icon for our generation shouldn’t be the like and tweet button, but…

There are so many people at all kinds of ages that are on social media nowadays but teenagers especially seem to be addicted, “It is widely believed that young people are hopelessly devoted to social media.” I believe that this statement is a bit of a stretch because I do know people who do not have it, but sadly it can very true for most of the kids in our generation. But it is so hard…

Blogging vs. writing an essay, which is better? At first, when I heard we were blogging in this class I was very skeptical about it. I didn’t know much about blogging and I was just very confused about how to do it. But then we were assigned to read an article, “Blogging in the classroom: why your students should write online” by Michael Drennan in class, it really opened my eyes to see the reason why blogging is an important task that can help a student grow. You see, blogging really helps with an individuals development, and it helps prepare them for the real world. At first, I was very…

My Infographic started off with my first memory of technology, which was when I was younger  (maybe 3 or 4 years old) but I remember starting to watch television at this age with all the cartoon shows. After my television phase, I started getting more into social media at the age of 11.  The social media accounts I use the most are my Instagram and Snapchat, which I use to post fun/interesting things that are happening in my life that I would like to share with my friends, family, and my acquaintances. Those are the two main social media accounts I use but I do have a Facebook account that…

    Introduction!

Hi! My name is Megan Thai, I am 18 years old, and I am a freshman at Whittier College. I have never written a blog before but I was very intrigued by the idea of writing one from my JanTerm class, Education Through Social Media. This course also made me sign up for a Twitter account which I have never had, but I am excited to see how both things turn out. So far I have done two new things in this course and it has only been two days! I am looking forward to trying and learning more new things during this course!
